The Bottle Trees at Kingfish in Jeffersonville
Playing in local cover bands for several years in the late ‘80s-early ‘90s, the Louisville Kentucky native took a 12-year hiatus through the ‘90s and early 2000s to raise a family. Coming back to the local music scene in the mid-2000s, David has been a sideman for many music projects including live band gigs and studio sessions. Since 2011 has been guitarist for the Louisville Youth Choir’s Spring Pops productions and Wayne Young and the New Legends Tribute to Eric Clapton. Along with sideman projects, David is co-founder of the blues and classic rock band, The Bottle Trees.
A founding member of The Bottle Trees, R.T. started his formal music training early by studying piano. However, when practice was over, he quickly turned his mom’s kitchen into a drumkit, suspending pot lids on dress hangers, using his Lincoln Logs canister as a snare drum, and played along to his dad's Glen Miller and Benny Goodman records. He eventually convinced his parents to pay for formal drum lessons and gave his first performance ("Pac Man Fever") for the 4th Grade talent show.
He continued to study throughout the rest of his formative education, performing in concert, jazz, and marching band programs that were offered along the way. In high school, he began to play on the local band circuit. At the University of North Texas, he studied drum set under Ed Soph and mallet percussion from Ron Fink and performed with various groups including the Eight O'clock Lab Band. After graduation, he continued to perform with local bands around the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and even did a stint in The Briefcase Blues, a Blues Brothers Tribute Band.
Even while he was enrolled in medical school, he continued to play music at every opportunity including many "jam" sessions on the local bar scene, after the library closed, of course.
While completing his residency at UofL, he found Benji Simmons and the "Weekend Warrior" program through Mom's Music. It was through this program that he met Tom Rump and David Warden, 15 years ago, and the three continue to play together to this day.
Just like the practice of medicine, the practice of music continues to engage and challenge him. The Bottle Trees diverse musical catalog gives him ample opportunity to put his skills to work and tap into the "kid" that dwells within him. Continuing the arts in school is of paramount importance.
Tom Rump played a tennis racket turned horizontally like a guitar until he got his first 3/4 classical at age 8. After taking lessons from a neighbor for three years, she invited him to join her trio to play the 10:30 Mass at St Pat's Auditorium in Fremont, NE, which he did for several years.
He played guitar in rock bands as a teen as well as concert, marching, pep and jazz bands as a percussionist. He was a member of Johnny Quest before moving east and taking a hiatus from performing.
In 2009, he met RT Ellis and David Warden through the Mom's Music Weekend Warrior program, and they eventually formed The Bottle Trees.
Performing since the age of 12, Tyler’s experience behind a microphone is second to none. With a mesmerizing voice that has captured the hearts of audiences, he has earned acclaim and awards that solidify his status as a true musical sensation.
Born and raised in Brooks Kentucky, Tyler discovered his passion for music at a young age. His dad, David, a band guitarist, nurtured his talent and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. It wasn't long before his extraordinary vocal range and stage presence became evident.
With a unique blend of rock and pop influences, Tyler has crafted a signature sound that defies genre boundaries. His emotionally charged singing and electrifying performances leave audiences spellbound and making every live show an unforgettable experience.
Ricky’s first stage performance was when he was 9 years old, and he has been going strong ever since. In 1986, he was hired as the house bass player, singer, and comedian at the historic Lincoln Jamboree, in Hodgenville, Ky, and was a mainstay there for several decades. Besides working with The Bottle Trees, he has been a part of Johnny Berry and the Outliers for the last 15 years. However, Ricky is the consummate family man. He is married to his lovely wife, Linda (they’ve known each other since they were babes), has a daughter, Tiffany, and two beautiful granddaughters, Taylor Brooke, and Trinity Jayde.
Coming from a musical family, and inspired by her father, Ricky Puckett, Tiffany started performing on stage at the ripe old age of 4. She has sung with many of the legends of the Grand Ole Opry, including Connie Smith, Rhonda Vincent, Bill Monroe, Vern Gosdin, Jeannie Sealy, and Georgette Jones. She has been featured on recordings with Johnny Berry, Michael Monroe Goodman, and Grammy Award winner Michael Cleveland, as well as adding harmony on multiple recording projects.
Since joining The Bottle Trees, she has been expanding her repertoire to include blues and rock. She is a Tammy Wynette tribute artist, sings the National Anthem at various car races and sporting events, and is a vocal/performance teacher at Louisville’s School of Rock. And as if that’s not enough, you’ll find her volunteering for MERF, singing at Light Up Louisville and doing anything she can to help better the lives of those who live in Bullitt County, which includes performing at Cancerfest and Operation Santa.
Even though he had no piano, or anyway to practice, John began piano lessons at the age of 7. He played with various garage bands throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, eventually enjoying a bit of success with The Payne Bros Band and The Fanatics. In 1986, he took a short 27-year hiatus to raise a family. But the desire to play never left him, and in 2013 he joined Wayne Young and the New Legends Tribute to Eric Clapton, where he met David Warden. He has played with various local bands including GoldBrick, The Decades, Most Wanted and is now a part of The Bottle Trees.
